Skincare Unwrapped… The Ordinary!

Hi everyone I am back and welcome to my world 🙂

After reading many various articles and watching numerous vlogs on YouTube I was beginning to feel quite intrigued by a beauty brand called ‘The Ordinary’, from all that I was reading I could not see any negative comments surrounding this brand and all seemed rather a mystery.  So me being me who just loves beauty and skincare I decided to go online via ASOS and order a select few bits.

So Who are The Ordinary?

The Ordinary is a brand from DECIEM and they are an umbrella of brands focused on advanced functional beauty. The team behind the brand are specialists in materials chemistry and biochemistry and have therefore decided to bring pioneering innovation to skincare through their core brands. The idea of the brand is to strip things back to basics… basic, not necessarily easy. The formulations are pure, non-fussy and the packaging says it as it is without any fluffy marketing words.

Why Have I Chosen This Brand?

For a while I’ve been wanting to start the process of stripping back my skincare routine and have a more relaxed approach to my beauty regimen and I’ve been researching ingredients which make up a lot of high-street skincare products. The Ordinary was a brand which kept popping up in all my research. The Ordinary have actually made a really helpful and easy regime guide which shows application and when to apply and even gives a couple of example routines. I would highly recommend checking out their website as there is a fair amount of information there that could be helpful if the range looks a little daunting on the get go. That aside, I wanted to show you what I’d been using and my thoughts as I think this is a brand you’ll be seeing me mention a lot more in the future!

  • Hylauronic Acid £5.90 – this lightweight, oil free formula, is a water based solution which is perfect for dehydrated skin and prevents signs of aging. Simply apply a few drops to your face and is ideal to use both AM or PM. Makes the skin feel smooth and rehydrated; perfect addition to my night time skincare routine.
  • Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil £9 – this formulation uses 100% pure reship oil that is both cold-pressed and organic.  While cold-pressed extraction is complex, it preserves all of the quality of this important oil which has been shown to reduce signs of photo-ageing and many other skin conditions. Personally, I apply once a day to the face and ideally at bedtime after water-based treatments (Hylauronic Acid)
  • 100% Organic Cold Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil £6 – Non scented 100% pure Argan oil is an unbelievable product and comparably so much cheaper than the famous Moroccan oil brand which is around the £35 mark – adds a soft sheen and at the same time adds strength.
  • High-Spreadability Fluid Primer £5.50 – surprisingly an amazing primer and for £5.50 well who wouldn’t want to try this! This is a lightweight serum-like formula and I apply before make-up for a smooth finish.  This primer aims to increase the spreadability of make-up to help avoid the unnatural and uneven accumulation of pigments, especially around the eyes and on dry skin.

Most importantly, I think it’s a really exciting brand and a great way for people to embrace a proper skincare routine without spending hundreds of pounds. Overall my experience with the brand so far has been really positive, the product quality and performance for the price range has really impressed me.

If you have tried The Ordinary – please do let me know as I would love to hear your thoughts.

Lots of love
